Disney Characters who you didn't know were Disney Princesses

Petition to Give Forgotten Disney More Love

There are a lot of Disney princesses, some in the official Disney franchise, and some not. However these princesses tend to slip the radar on lists, so here are some Disney characters you didn't know were princesses.

Ursula Stanhope
https://www.change.org/p/give-forgotten-disney-more-love
https://www.change.org/p/give-forgotten-disney-more-love
Ursula Stanhope is from George of The Jungle, and George of The Jungle 2. You may be wondering how she's a princess. Well, she's married to George, who is referred to throughout both movies as The King of The Jungle. Likewise in the sequel Ursula is referred to as his queen.

Jane Porter
https://www.change.org/p/give-forgotten-disney-more-love
https://www.change.org/p/give-forgotten-disney-more-love
Jane Porter from Tarzan, and Tarzan & Jane is our next Disney Princess. Now, you may be thinking this will pretty much be a rehash of my reasoning for Ursula being a Disney princess, since Ursula was based off Jane. However there is a slight difference between her and Ursula. Tarzan isn't really the king of The Jungle like George, his adoptive father however leads the gorillas making him a king. Because of this Tarzan is a prince, and by marrying Jane, she is now his queen,

Vitani

Princess Vitani from The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, has a few things going for her regarding being considered a Disney Princess. She is most likely the daughter of Scar, who not only is of royal blood, but was king for a while. The Lion Guard confirmed she was born during Scar's era, which would have made her a princess. Not only that, but she is Kovu's sister. Given that Kovu marries a Disney Princess, Kiara, that gives Vitani some nobility as well.

My favorite Disney Princess Kiara

Petition to Give Forgotten Disney More Love

My favorite Disney princess is not one you'll see with all the other princesses. She can't attend fancy balls like Cinderella, make tons of delicious food like Tiana, ride a magic carpet like Jasmine, shoot a bow and arrow like Merida, or paint with all the colors of the wind like Pocahontas, but she's still a great princess.

My favorite Disney Princess is Kiara from The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride.

Kiara is a fun loving, caring, and playful princess. Like most Disney princesses, Kiara has a prince as well. His name is Kovu, and like Flynn Rider (Or Eugene if you want) he was a baddie who turned good through the power of love. (Which is a curious thing, that makes one man weep and another man sing. It can even change a hawk into a little white dove.)

Here's a big reason I think Kiara should be an official Disney Princess, We Are One.

Kiara helps end the feud between her and Kovu's prides by reminding them "We Are One",bringing a new era of peace.

I personally think Kiara would be a purrfect Disney Princess, don't you agree?

Hannah Montana Marathon coming this December!

Petition to Give Forgotten Disney More Love

From December 3rd to December 29th there is a marathon of every episode of Hannah Montana. Regardless of what you think about Miley Cyrus currently, it would still be a nice thing to watch.

Hannah Montana isn't forgotten Disney yet per say, but it's getting pretty close. Perhaps this is another sign they're starting to care about their older and less remembered TV shows and movies? It's possible due to the forgotten Disney movie merchandise in The Disney store, the That's so Raven sequel series, and even some forgotten Disney villains made it into the Disney.com Halloween card memory game.

However this could just be a coincidence, and I am going to work on still spreading my petition to give forgotten Disney more love.

Will Frozen 2 be forgotten?

Petition to Give Forgotten Disney More Love

As we know Disney's Frozen topped Lion King as Disney's most successful movie. Given all the merchandise, and even a stage show, Frozen was bound to get a sequel. But, will it be remembered or put into the pile of other forgotten Disney films.

The first point I'll address involves Disney's second most popular movie The Lion King. The Lion King did amazing at the box office and Disney felt a sequel was in order. So four years later in 1998, The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride was released straight to VHS.

Before Lion King 2 came out, Disney did a lot of advertising and promotions for the film, including A McDonalds promotion, A world Premiere where they invited celebrities like Richard Karn, Leeza Gibbons, Robert Townsend, Charlton Heston, and Davis Hasselhoff, various mail in offers, a promotion with Kodak, and even little storybooks in boxes of Cheerios and Lucky Charms.

However around 2006 The Walt Disney Company seemed to push the movie aside, leaving it forgotten and unknown by future Lion King fans.

Now, you might be saying, this is different since The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, was a Disney Direct to Video movie, and not a theatrical film.

There's a problem with that too.....

Peter Pan 2 Return to Neverland, a film starring Wendy's daughter Jane, was a theatrical sequel to the original Peter Pan. However, nowadays Return to Neverland is forgotten Disney.

This is the same case with The Jungle Book 2, as well. (As for Disney's live action Jungle Book, and the possible sequel of that, the jury is still out.)

When it comes to Disney it seems sequels don't get the best footing. The exceptions currently seem to be Planes: Fire and Rescue, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3,Cars 2, and Monster's University.

Maybe Frozen 2 will be one of the lucky ones to stay loved. If not, Forgotten Disney will have another movie to try and bring love too again.

Is Disney starting to give their forgotten movies more attention?

Petition to Give Forgotten Disney More Love

As you may know this blog was made with the intention to give forgotten Disney more attention. I intend to keep doing so until the movies are loved again, but it seems like Disney is taking some of the first steps to making that happen.

On Disney's game website  there was recently a matching game for halloween featuring the Disney villains. You may expect just the usual Evil Queen Grimhilde, Queen of Hearts, Scar, and Jafar, but to my surprise as I played it there was more variety than I thought.

Needless to say I was surprised when these Disney baddies showed up in the game:

Yzma the villain of the mostly forgotten The Emperor's New Groove. She wants to the empress and tries to poison and kill the emperor Kuzco after he fires her from being his advisor. However instead of poisoning him, she accidentally turns Kuzco into a llama. Yzma's want for the throne continues in the TV spin off The Emperor's New School, in which Kuzco has to return to school, and the sequel Kronk's New Groove.

Prince John is the villain of Robin Hood (As in the animated 1970s version, not the 1940s live action film Robin Hood and his Merrie Men, which is also a forgotten Disney film.) Despite being a lion, Prince John is the uncle of a fox named Maid Marian, who is the apple of Robin Hood's eye.

The Horned King from The Black Cauldron was one of the most surprising finds on this game. The Black Cauldron didn't do too well in theaters, and was criticized for being too dark. Needless to say, Disney kind of swept this movie under the rug and doesn't talk about it much.

Clayton from Tarzan was nice to see in this game. He was on the gorilla research trip with Professor Porter, and the Professor's daughter Jane, who ends up falling in love with the famous ape man, Tarzan. While Jane and her dad love the gorillas, Clayton could care less and would rather hunt them. Personally I think Clayton has one of the most chilling and scary Disney deaths, having being accidentally hung by a vine during a fight.

Like the Horned King Madame Medusa from The Rescuers was another big surprise. You gotta love her design, red hair like Ariel's, but piercing green eyes that just show her evil. Like a few Disney villains (Cruella De Vil, and Clayton come to mind) she has a problem with animals, more specifically mice. Maybe Mickey Mouse was just scared of her.

Goob (Also known as The Bowler Hat Guy) and Dor-15 (Also known as Doris) are the villains of Meet the Robinsons. You can see Goob here grinning evilly, but you may wonder where Dor-15 is, well, she's the hat.

Next is Professor Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective. Don't you dare call him a rat! He's the biggest enemy to detective Basil of Baker Street, and has ties with a cat named Felicia for her to eat mice who bug him, like Basil.

The last one is Hopper from a Bug's Life. Hopper is the leader of the grasshoppers and blames the ants for his colony running out of food. He wants the ants to double his original food demand, and when they can't he takes over. Quite a scary villain even though you could take him out by stepping on him.

The Disney game site also has trivia quizzes and some include forgotten Disney.

A Kim Possible Trivia Quiz

Bolt and Dodger from Oliver and Company as two quiz answer choices.

Mittens from Bolt as a quiz answer choice

Rusty from Home on the Range as a quiz answer choice

Toby from The Great Mouse Detective as a quiz answer choice.

Prince John from Robin Hood as a quiz answer choice.

On The Little Mermaid Trivia quiz one of the questions is "Who turns Ariel into a human?" While the correct answer is Ursula, I love the shout out The Little Mermaid 2: Return to The Sea, they did by making one of the wrong choices Morgana. As you may know, Morgana is Ursula's younger sister and the main villain of The Little Mermaid 2. While she doesn't turn anyone human, she turns Ariel's daughter Melody into a mermaid. As for the other choices, not sure if there would be much of a plot if a magical sea cucumber turned Ariel human. If Sebastian did, King Triton would probably boil him alive for turning his daughter human.

This next question on a Disney dog quiz, is about Copper from The Fox and The Hound (And of course the just as forgotten The Fox and The Hound 2), who is best friends with Tod. Not only is this question forgotten Disney but the choices "Toby from The Great Mouse Detective" and "Georgette from Oliver and Company" are as well. Bruno from Cinderella I could see being friends with a fox, he's a nice old dog. Same with Toby, who actually looks quite a bit like Copper. I don't think Georgette would, as she'd probably ruin her fur playing with a fox.

The question "This cat wears glasses" was also a surprise. Rufus from The Rescuers doesn't get that much attention, neither does his film

"This cat's owner is Weird Girl"?, well then that cat is Mr. Whisker's from Frankenweenie. However there is another forgotten Disney Mr. Whiskers out there, the rabbit from Brandy and Mr Whiskers.

The last question of the Disney cat quiz is about Oliver from Oliver and Company. I'm also laughing at the thought of Mufasa just chilling out in New York. Scar didn't get to kill him since he moved there, and as a result Kovu and Kiara may be able to be together in peace.

Finally The Disney store has quite a few forgotten Disney items right now.

First we've got some common Disney kitties, Marie from The Aristocats, Figaro from Pinocchio (Although sometimes he's Minnie Mouse's cat), Lucifer from Cinderella (And Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True, and Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time.), Then there's The Chesire Cat from Alice and Wonderland. Si and Am from Lady and The Tramp are there as well, which is odd since Disney usually phases them out for being racist stereotypes. Then there's the forgotten kitty of the bunch, Oliver from Oliver and Company. He's a happy looking little kitty on that pin.

This is a set of Pixar figures that seem to be also sold at Disney Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Disneyworld, DisneyLand, and The Magic Kingdom. We've got some basic ones. Only three of the Incredibles, Dash Parr, Mr. Incredible (Bob Parr), Mrs. Incredible (Helen Parr), but sadly no Violet or Jack-Jack. Then for Toy Story we got Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Jessie. Then Monsters Inc includes Mike and Sulley. Then the last two for A Bug's Life is where our forgotten Disney falls in. We've got a figure of the main character Flik, and Princess Dot.

Now this one isn't entirely forgotten Disney, as Beauty and The Beast is one of the most loved and remembered Disney movies. The reason I put this one here is her name. In the musical and the upcoming 2017 Beauty and The Beast live action remake, the feather duster is named Babette. However her name is Fifi in Belle's Magical World, so it was nice to see that name for her.

Robin Hood is also kind of a rare thing to find merchandise for, but here we have a Robin Hood Storybook Plush Ornament, from The Disney Parks. He looks pretty cute doesn't he? Maybe it's the leaf tag and and the background but this one gives me an autumn feel.

Next one is also quite rare on the merchandising side, it's Quasimodo and Esmeralda from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The two of them have a great friendship and this cute little sketchbook ornament shows it. In The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, Quasimodo is even friends with Esmeralda and Phoebus' son Zephyr.

Still a long way to go but a good start for Disney, and remember We Are One.
